Vanguard-Sentinel cuts instructor

FREMONT – Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Centers Board of Education Thursday authorized Superintendent Gregory Edinger to issue a notice of contract suspension to Vanguard career-based intervention instructor Michael Cramer effective the end of next month.

This move is considered a “reduction in force” allowable by the collective bargaining unit and the Ohio Revised Code.

Many more administrative actions followed, including issuing 50 extended-time supplemental contracts for next school year. Two-year full-time classified employee contracts were renewed for assistant tech coordinator Brooke Cassidy, Sentinel custodian Eric Gibson, Vanguard attendance secretary Tina Hoelzle, Vanguard custodian Linda Krizan and Sentinel educational assistant/aide Mary Post. One-year contracts were renewed for Vanguard educational assistant/aide Anita Ritter and Vanguard custodian Kenneth Missler, all effective July 1.

A one-year certified teaching contract was issued to Vanguard medical aide Mary Tyburski for next school year, pending proper credentialing. Continuing contracts were approved for Tiffinie Leiter, Don Root and Abbigail Venturino.

Secondary student organization fees for next school year were established FFA, $30; DECA, $25; FEA, $30; FCCLA, $25; BPA, $46; Skills USA, $25; and CBI, $20.

A Sentinel student program apparel purchase from Viewpoint Graphics of Tiffin was approved for $19,000 and Benchmark Prints for the Vanguard apparel purchase at $31,000.

The board approved dropping billings declared to be uncollectible for five individuals totaling $1,561.16, and $446.11 was returned to the General Fund from Title II-A, improving teacher quality fund, from a previous advance.

The next meeting is to be at Sentinel at 6:30 p.m. June 20.
