Police investigate vehicle theft

Police are searching for a man who stole a vehicle Wednesday night in the 200 block of South Washington Street.

According to Tiffin police reports, a woman reported just after 10 p.m. a man took her car, which had the keys in it. She described him as a white male with dark hair and wearing a black tank top.

The vehicle, which was found in a ditch in the 2000 block of East CR 36 about an hour later, had front end damage and the driver was not around the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

According to reports, a caller had reported seeing a man walking toward Tiffin, but it was unknown if he was the suspect.

Sgt. Rob Bour of the Tiffin Police Department said the canine unit and a thermal imager were requested, but the man had disappeared from the area.

Bour said the man also is believed to be involved in other vehicle break-ins in the Washington Street area.
