Man leads police on foot pursuit
A Tiffin man was arrested Sunday evening after he led law enforcement on a foot pursuit.
Seneca County Sheriff’s deputy Troy Gibson said Harley L. Bushey, 24, of Tiffin, was arrested on Seneca Avenue and charged with obstruction after he ran out of a Woodland Avenue residence and away from deputies. The chase lasted about 15 minutes, Gibson said.
Gibson said he had been in the 1000 block of Woodland Avenue investigating a burglary in which a woman reported her house was entered while she was inside. She said she found a screen busted out of a window and also heard a noise. Nothing was missing from the residence and the burglar was no longer in the residence when she called the sheriff’s office just before 4:30 p.m.
As Gibson was interviewing possible witnesses, he came across Bushey at a neighboring residence. Bushey had a Wood County warrant charging him with failure to pay taxes, and as deputies tried to get him to come to the door, he ran out of a back door of the residence.
Gibson said Tiffin police assisted deputies in the pursuit, which went through yards of several residences.
Bushey appeared in Tiffin Municipal Court Monday morning where he pleaded no contest to obstruction, a second-degree misdemeanor.
He was found guilty and sentenced to 90 days in jail, according to court documents.
