Man hurt in crash with semi
BASCOM – A Tiffin man was injured when his car was struck by a semi tractor Monday evening.
Trooper Ivan Nunez of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Zachary L. Baker, 33, was taken to Mercy Tiffin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Nunez said Baker was driving a 2008 Honda Civic northbound on CR 7 and failed to stop at the stop sign. He was struck by a 2012 Freightliner semi tractor being driven westbound on SR 18 by Gene L. Paschal, 52, of Lansing, Mich.
Baker was cited with failure to stop at a stop sign, Nunez said.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, he said.
A Seneca County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman said Bascom fire and EMS and the county’s Echo unit responded. Deputies also were at the scene.
