Fostoria man charged for weapon violation

FOSTORIA – A Fostoria man was charged with having weapons while under disability after police responded to a fight where shots had been fired early Thursday morning.

According to a release from the Fostoria Police Department, a fight was reported around 2:45 a.m. in the 100 block of West North Street. Capt. Patrick Brooks of the Fostoria Police Department said while the police dispatcher was on the phone with a 911 caller reporting the fight, a gunshot was heard.

When officers arrived to the area, an empty shell casing was found, according to the release. The investigation then led police to the execution of a search warrant at an apartment in the 100 block of West North Street. At the apartment, the residence of Trey A. Johnson, 28, a firearm was located, according to the release.

Johnson has been charged with having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony. Johnson and others could face additional charges, according to the release.

Brooks said police were not able to determine that anyone was shot during the altercation. He said one person was injured from the fight.
