Sycamore fire department granted rescue device

SYCAMORE – Fire Chief Bryan Clouse visited Sycamore Village Council Tuesday evening and reported the donation of a grain rescue tube from the Andersons Inc. Training on the tube will be provided by the Andersons locally.

Entrapment in grain bins have been on the rise partially due to larger bins and farmers holding onto grain longer. Unloading larger amounts of grain result in a faster flow while unloading grain. The tube is valued at $1,000.

In other matters, council discussed:

The village is to purchase a Case backhoe for $84,684.95, including upgrades.

Therese Barron and Christy Flood were hired as co-managers at the pool for the summer.

Village residents should be on alert and take precautions due to recent break-ins.

Council approved a resolution giving permission for the use of village owned streets and other village owned property by the water system during the construction phase.

Council is to meet at 7:30 p.m. April 23 at the village hall.
