Sycamore OKs fire contract

SYCAMORE – After a short executive session Tuesday evening, Sycamore Village Council approved the renewal of a fire contract that provides fire and ambulance services to surrounding townships.

Mayor Matt Boucher commented on a recent fire at a local video and ice cream store, saying he was very proud of the fire personnel who battled the blaze. Sycamore Fire Chief Bryan Clouse said departments from Upper Sandusky, Wyandot East and McCutchenville assisted his department. Boucher also said he was impressed with the quick response time to the fire.

Outstanding billings for ambulance runs were discussed as a follow-up to the last council meeting. Councilwoman Dawn Needles said, “The village is going to do whatever is in their power to get people to pay.” The billing system may have some improvements initiated.

Village Administrator Chuck Clark said the demonstration of a new backhoe went well. Council decided to purchase the Case model, in part because of a readily available parts system in Mansfield. He said a government entity is interested in the backhoe the village now owns.

The village is in need of summer lifeguards for the pool. Applicants may visit the village utilities office for an application.

Council is to meet at 7:30 p.m. April 9 at village hall.
