Early fire destroys Carey house

A fire early Tuesday morning destroyed a TR 20 house in Carey.

Carey Fire Chief Chad Snyder said firefighters were called to 15773 TR 20 around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday for the report of a single-story residence on fire.

When they arrived at the residence, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Snyder said firefighters from Upper Sandusky, Vanlue and Wharton assisted the Carey Fire Department. Firefighters were at the scene for about four-and-a-half hours battling the fire, he said.

Snyder said the structure and its contents are considered a total loss. He said the fire, which does not appear suspicious, started in the utility room. An exact cause has not been determined yet.

Snyder said the three residents were able to exit the residence safely and no injuries were reported.
