Sycamore selects board chief

SYCAMORE – Sycamore Village Council met Tuesday night and re-elected Vicki Weininger as the council president for 2013. There were two changes in committee members with Anthony Flood overseeing the income tax and finance committee and Darcy Zimmerman joining Flood on the finance committee.

Village Administrator Charles Clark said a USDA application for a loan for a water treatment plant has been postponed due to questions regarding design and the possibility of a decline in population. The USDA also wanted to know the reports of water leaks and water meter readings from the 2011-2012 year, and what has been done to recover lost water costs.

Village Police Chief Richard Blankenship said there were 310 phone calls made for police in 2012, 181 more calls than last year. In all calls, response was made in two minutes or less.

In other business, council:

Passed a motion to accept the Robert Rules of Order Latest Edition.

Passed a motion to adopt the Ohio Basic Code.

Passed a motion for resolution 1315-13, decreasing the estimated revenue for the Income Tax Fund to $100,000.00.

The finance committee is to meeet at 6 p.m. Jan. 22.

Zimmerman thanked those who helped donate $1,200 toward the village swimming pool. She also thanked those who donated to a family affected by a fire. Flood thanked those who donated food and brought it to the village building during the holiday season, especially the Mohawk FFA for helping the families in need.

Council is to meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the village hall.
