FOSTORIA – Vendors are being accepted for the 2015 Fostoria Farmers’ Markets. The markets are to take place on eight Saturdays during the summer, beginning May 2, at the downtown KeyBank green space, 133 W. Tiffin St, Fostoria.

Each is to be open 9 a.m.-1 p.m., rain or shine. Vendors can begin to set up at 8 a.m. No one may set up after 9 a.m. or take down before 1 p.m.

Vendors must register with the Fostoria Farmers’ Market Committee. The cost of participating is $50 for the entire season if payment is received today. Afterward, the cost is $55 for the season. Payment for a single event is $8, which needs to be made by the Wednesday before the market – otherwise the fee rises to $10. No refunds are to be given for failure to show or rain.

Spaces are about 10 by 10 feet and assigned on a weekly basis. Double spaces must be arranged in advance for a higher fee. Season-long vendors may have their same spot reserved until 8:30 a.m.

Vendors selling cottage foods, such as homemade baked goods, jams, salsa, honey and soaps, do not need a food vendor’s license, but they must meet state and local labeling requirements. A mobile food license is required for those selling fresh meat, eggs or dairy products. The sale of live animals is prohibited. Contact the Seneca County Health District with questions about food licenses or permits.

It is the vendor’s responsibility to obtain all necessary licenses and permits necessary for goods sold for which a sales tax is to be collected. Liability insurance is recommended.

Tables and tents are not provided and are the responsibility of the vendor. Those who use tents should secure them with portable weights.

Vendors set their own prices. No loud radios, shouting of prices or hawking of goods is allowed. Vendors must clean their areas – remove all produce, containers, signs and debris – at the end of the market.

Fostoria Farmers’ Market is registered with the Ohio Department of Agriculture, and is under the Seneca County Board of Health jurisdiction. If items are sold by weight, scales must be approved by the Seneca County auditor.

Individuals, groups, organizations or businesses providing concessions must clearly state what they intend to sell at each market at time of registration.

The event committee reserves the right to refuse a registration or vendor from participating, in which case the registration fee would be refunded.
