Registration starts for Master Gardeners classes

Registration now is open for 2018 Master Gardener classes.

For those interested in gardening and horticulture, classes are 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Wednesdays begining Jan. 24 for nine weeks at Seneca County Cooperative Extension Service office.

Extension-trained volunteers and graduates offer advice to assist in backyard gardening efforts and are active in a variety of projects. Seneca County Master Gardeners maintain the flowerbed at the entrance of Seneca County Fairgrounds, host a plant sale each spring, offer a scholarship to local college students, work with children at events such as Earth Day and Water Fest, judge 4-H projects, have educational group trips, provide speakers for programs and run an “Ask an Expert” helpline.

Applications for the class are to be accepted Wednesday. Forms can be picked up at the Extension Office, 3140 S. SR 100, during business hours. For more information, call (419) 447-9722.

Teens to decorate tote bags Thursday

The teen department of Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to present “Craftastic” for teens 3:30-4:30 p.m Thursday in the Frost Kalnow Room of the library, 77 Jefferson St.

Teens in grades 6-12 are to create and decorate a tote bag made from recycled T-shirts.

All materials are to be provided; however, teens are invited to bring their own T-shirts if they wish.

Vegetarian, vegan dishes focus of cookbook club

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s “Cook by the Book Cooking Club” is to meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Kernan Room of the library, 77 Jefferson St.

January’s theme is vegetarian or vegan dishes.

T-SPL toddler group to meet in January

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to present Toddler Tales at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16, 23 and 30; and at 10 a.m. Jan. 17, 24 and 31 in the Frost Kalnow Room of the library, 77 Jefferson St.

The program is to feature stories, songs and finger plays.

T-SPL, park district to present local animal program

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library and Seneca County Park District is to present Tracks and Scat of Animals in Seneca County at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Frost Kalnow Room of the library, 77 Jefferson St.

Linda Rose from the Seneca County Park District is to spend time talking about the furs, habitats, tracks and scat of local animals. Participants can test their knowledge through hands-on activities.

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to be closed Jan. 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Test your knowledge on ‘Gilmore Girls,’ win prizes

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to host a “Gilmore Girls” Trivia Night at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Frost Kalnow Room of the library, 77 Jefferson St.

Teams of four are to compete to see who knows the most about the hit television show “Gilmore Girls” Prizes are to be awarded to the winners and refreshments with be served.

Simply Susan’s is to donate prizes for the event.

Tiffin board to organize

The Tiffin City Board of Education has scheduled its organizational meeting for 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Administration Building, located at 244 S. Monroe St.

Seneca East board to organize

ATTICA — Seneca East Board of Education has scheduled its organizational meeting for 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The regular meeting is to immediately follow.

Also, the proposed budget for July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019, is available in the treasurer’s office.

Terra State to offer Life Scholar sampler Jan. 23

FREMONT — Terra State Community College is to celebrate the Life Scholar program with a sampler course 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 23 in the Ronald L. Neeley Center on the Fremont campus.

Attendees are to learn of the different courses and trips the Life Scholar program is to offer in 2018.
