Terra offers small business seminars

FREMONT – The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Terra State Community College is to offer free, two-hour seminars titled “Small Business Basics” during the Month of February.

The following is a list of seminar times and dates:

9:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 5 at the Ottawa County Improvement Corp., 8043 W. SR 163, Oak Harbor.

9:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce, 19 W. Market St., Tiffin.

9:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 19 at the Erie County Chamber of Commerce, 225 W. Washington Row, Sandusky.

4:30-6:30 p.m. at Terra State Community College, Building A, room 314, 2830 Napoleon Road, Fremont.

HU receives funding for trash containers

Heidelberg University’s Sustainability Committee has been awarded a $5,025 grant from the Ottawa-Sandusky-Seneca Solid Waste District.

With initial funding from two student organizations, the committee plans to purchase products that are created from recycled materials.

Outdoor trash containers are to be located at all residential buildings and also the Campus Center, University Hall and Saurwein Health & Wellness Center.

TU’s Homeland courses affordable

Tiffin University has been recognized as a top school for affordable Homeland Security education according to Fire Science Online’s new list, Money Matters: “The Most Affordable Homeland Security Bachelor’s Degrees.”

TU was identified as one of the schools that offer the highest quality national defense programs at the lowest cost.

Terra board elects new officers

The Terra State Community College Board of Trustees has elected new officers for 2014 during their regular meeting Jan. 23.

Nancy Grandillo, of Tiffin, is to serve as board chairwoman, Sandra Berlekamp is to serve as vice chairwoan and Don Nalley is to serve as sergeant at arms. Berlekamp and Nalley are of Fremont.

Local takes stage at Findlay

FINDLAY – Ryan Wood, a 2010 Hopewell-Loudon High School graduate, performed in The University of Findlay’s Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble concert, “A Christmas Festival.”

Notre Dame dean’s list

Christopher Daniel, of Tiffin, has been named to the fall 2013 semester dean’s list at the University of Notre Dame.

Bascom resident makes track team

ASHLAND – Brandon Mesnard, of Bascom, has been named a member of the men’s track and field team at Ashland University.

Mesnard is and 2011 Columbian High School graduate.

Upper native member of women’s track at Ashland

ASHLAND – Morgan Myeres, of Upper Sandusky, has been named a member of the Ashland University women’s track and field team.

Myers is a 2010 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School.

Ashland dean’s list

ASHLAND – Area students named to the 2013 fall dean’s list at Ashland University include Jordan Bowerman and Marissa Willman of Attica; Frances DiCesare of Fostoria; Nicole Kimmet of New Riegel; and Morgan Myers of Carey.

Mount Union dean’s list

ALLIANCE – Local students named to the dean’s list for the fall 2013 semester at the University of Mount Union include Taylor Bishop of Fostoria; Emily Rich of Burgoon; Taylor Ruffin of Attica; and Alice Vent of Carey.

Pensacola Christian College dean’s list

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Jacob Benjamin Yaeger, of Tiffin, has been named to the dean’s list at Pensacola Christian College for the 2013 fall semester.

Walsh University dean’s list

Local students named to the 2013 fall semester dean’s list at Otterbein University include Anne Eichhorn and Marta Watson, both of Tiffin.

Walsh announces grads

NORTH CANTON- Walsh University honored its 2013 summer and fall graduates during ceremonies Dec. 15.

Area students among the graduates include Jaclyn Cost of Tiffin, bachelor’s of arts degree in accounting; Emily Tiell of Tiffin, bachelor’s of arts degree in sociology; and Gemma White of Bloomville, bachelor’s of science education degree in early childhood education.
