Understanding substance abuse
topic of upcoming workshop at ‘Berg
New Transitions Counseling in Tiffin is sponsoring a free workshop, “Understanding Drug or Alcohol Addiction and Family Recovery.”
Those concerned about a loved one’s drinking or drug use and unsure what to do are welcome to attend. Led by Joanne Kosta, licensed mental health and substance abuse counselor, the workshop is to run 9-10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 in the Campus Center at Heidelberg University.

Hayes forum surveys house histories
FREMONT The Hayes Presidential Center can help homeowners give voice to their home’s walls with the “Tracing Your House’s History” class. Head Librarian Becky Hill is instructor for the 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday session in the Hayes Museum.
Hill is to explain how to use printed resources and online sources to get to the root of a home’s past. She guides attendees in identifying prior owners of structures, as well as the history of the properties. Among the available reference materials Hill is to discuss are deeds, Sanborn Maps, city directories and tax records.

Lyme Village sets annual meeting
BELLEVUE – The 2014 annual meeting of Historic Lyme Village is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at the visitors’ center. Four trustees are to be elected and annual reports are to be presented.
Also, the Sandusky Maritime Museum is to give a program on the Underground Railroad, which includes a video partially filmed at Lyme Village. Refreshments are to be served.

Pair of scrapbooking days scheduled
FOSTORIA – Good Shepherd Home is to host its sixth annual Scrapbook Day 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 25.

The Tiffin Mothers of Twins is planning a day for scrapbookers 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Feb. 1 at First United Baptist Church, 419 Coe St.
