Make cards for US troops
The American Red Cross is to host its seventh annual Holiday Mail for Heroes program to make and send greeting cards to active military overseas.
Card-making parties are to take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Red Cross office in the Tiffin Mall and at the Upper Sandusky Fire Department. Supplies are to be available, and all cards made will be forwarded without cost.
Those who cannot attend Thursday can send their own messages until Dec. 6 by mailing them to Holiday Mail for Heroes, P.O. Box 5456, Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456.
‘Feed and Seed’ scheduled
Seneca Community Chaplain Corps is offering “Feed and Seed” at 6 p.m. Fridays at 3484 S. TR 151. The evening includes a free meal, Bible study and fellowship.

Annual fund drive continues
SYCAMORE – Sycamore Village and Sycamore Township residents received their fund drive materials through the mail this year. Individuals wishing to donate to this year’s campaign have several options:
Donations can be mailed to the Sycamore One Fund Drive, in care of M.H.S., Box 336, Sycamore, OH 44882-0336.
Donations may be dropped off at the Mohawk Historical Society Museum, 101 N. Sycamore Ave., 6-8 p.m..
Board members are available to pick up donations and answer questions. Carey reverse raffle planned
CAREY – The annual Our Lady of Consolation reverse raffle is to take place Saturday in the Shrine Cafeteria. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Ticket holders will have a chance at the grand prize of $5,000. Side raffles also can be purchased.
A $10 ticket buys a chance at a handcrafted, queen-size oak bed made by Dick Smiley. A $50 ticket gives the bearer one chance of 10 at prizes such as a year’s tuition at OLC School, a lottery tree, a whole hog and seven more prizes in the “Deal or No Deal”-style game.

Tour a villa, take home a pie
Friedman Village at St. Francis is to have a pie promotion. Stop by Friedman Village at St. Francis Villa 165, take a tour and receive a pumpkin pie to take home.
Tours for the pies are available 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and 4-6 p.m. Monday.
The villas at Friedman Village are independent living condominiums available to those 62 and older.
Guests can view Villa 165 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. seven days a week for self-guided tours.

Program to focus on Custer
Johnson’s Island Civil War Round Table is to meet at 7 p.m. Sunday at Carmie’s Grill and Bar, 2460 S. SR 231.
Guests can come at 5:15 p.m. to dine and socialize before the program by David Ingalls. He is to present “The Life of General Custer through the Civil War.”
Christmas tree to be lighted
BETTSVILLE – A Christmas tree lighting is planned Sunday at Old Fort Bank in Bettsville.
Activities are to start at 5:30 p.m., with the arrival of Santa and lighting of the tree at 6 p.m.
Refreshments are to be served.
Park to host Turkey Trot
The annual Turkey Trot has been set for 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day at Hedges-Boyer Park.
All ages are invited to participate in a 3- or 5-mile fun run or walk, starting from the shelter near the YMCA. This is not a competition and no times will be kept.
The Salvation Army is to be on hand to collect food donations.

Toy collection continues
CLYDE – A holiday toy and coat giveaway is 9 a.m.-noon and 4-6 p.m. on three Thursdays, Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at the Clyde Backdoor Food Pantry on McPherson Highway, Clyde.
Firefighters have made a donation to the “Caring for Clyde Kids” community toy drive, and toys can be dropped off through Dec. 10. Boxes have been placed at all the schools, post office, city building, finance building, Family Eye Care and St. Mary.
