A free class that teaches how to eat well while spending less is set for 10:30-11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Seneca County Job & Family Services, 3362 S. TR 151.

The class is to be presented by Bernie Stephens, a family nutrition program assistant with OSU Extension.

The Lady Knights are to serve a cabbage roll and Halushka dinner 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tiffin Knights of Columbus hall, 49 E. Perry St.

The cost is $8.50 for adults and $5.50 for ages 10 and younger.

The St. Francis Spirituality Center is offering a Day of Yoga 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Tiffin Franciscan Sister Paulette Schroeder will be presenting the program to show some of the practical spiritual applications of major postures and breathing practices. She will present lessons that apply to people of any faith.

The cost for the day is $30.

Gallery exhibits Kathy Stearns’ art

FOSTORIA – The photography and paintings of local artist Kathy Stearns are on exhibit through May 31 at Wesley Memorial Gallery in Fostoria. “A Whim of a Decade” was inspired by classic literature, natural and physical sciences and simple pleasures.

Stearns is to be honored at a reception noon-2 p.m. April 14 at the gallery, 1200 Van Buren St., Fostoria, in the church’s narthex.

Soup cook-off

Autumnwood Care Center is to have a soup cook-off 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. March 6 in the community room at the center, 670 E. SR 18. The competition is open to all. To enter a soup, bring a minimum of 5 quarts.

Samples will be available for 25 cents each, or buy a 6-ounce bowl for $1. Tasters can vote for their favorite at 25 cents per vote.

Kiwanis pancake event planned

FOSTORIA – Fostoria Kiwanis Club is to host its Pancake Day fundraiser 7 a.m.-7 p.m. March 7 at St. Wendelin Parish Life Center, 323 N. Wood St. The cost is $6 for adults, $5 for Golden Buckeye members and $3 for children. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice.

A raffle and 50/50 drawing also are planned.

FREMONT – The Hayes Presidential Center is offering a new class to help amateur photographers manage their hobby. “Photos & Genealogy” is to take place 9:30 a.m.-noon March 9 in the Hayes Library.
