Harmony ’n’ you: Church seeks more voices for cantata
Harmony United Methodist Church near Tiffin is looking for voices to join their community choir.
The church, at 6487 S. CR 19, is forming a community choir for he purpose of presenting the Easter Cantata, “The Cross Changes Everything,” according to Dana Riedel, Harmony’s choir director.
“We wanted a nice, big choir for our Easter Cantata presentations,” Riedel said. “We thought, Why keep it just to our members?”
Now, the choir is comprised of about 23 voices, but she is seeking to equip the choir with more.
Riedel said they want to have a community choir similar to the one that performs during Christmas in Carey at the Our Lady of Consolation, which has about 80 voices.
“It is a going to be a good opportunity for the community,” Riedel said.
All music is to be furnished.
The performance is to take about an hour, Riedel said, with about 10 songs.
Riedel said they are in need of male singers, altos and bass, but anyone is welcome to come in and sing of all ages.
Rehearsals are to start at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church, weather permitting. Performance dates are scheduled for March 25 and 28.
With a larger group, there will be the opportunity for a larger audience, Riedel said.
Riedel said rehearsals are to last no more than an hour, with about 12 rehearsals scheduled at this time.
