Beginning to look like a Winter Wonderland

FREMONT – The Sandusky County Agricultural Society and Junior Fair Board are looking for businesses, individuals and organizations to participate with displays and sponsorships for the second annual Winter Wonderland at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds.

The holiday attraction is Dec. 12-15 and 19-22.

According to Winter Wonderland Chairwoman Danyelle Lantz, the inaugural Winter Wonderland generated nearly 4,000 visitors, more than 2,000 pounds of food donations for the Sandusky County Food Pantry and more than $3,500 in donations, some of which allowed the committee to form and award two college scholarships to area Junior Fair participants.

Admission for 2013 is the same as last year – $1 or a canned good to benefit the food pantry.

Minor changes for this year’s event include having a drive-through viewing of the displays from 6-8 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays. Christmas music and holiday greetings from business sponsors are to be simulcast over the radio as visitors travel the fairgrounds.

Each Friday and Saturday are to allow the public to park and walk through the fairgounds, viewing the attractions from 6-9 p.m. In addition to the various displays, visitors will be able to enjoy a Christmas craft show each Friday and Saturday evening, Christmas carolers, hot chocolate and cookies, kids’ crafts and games, horse rides, sleigh or wagon rides (depending on the weather), dance groups, and possibly a live Nativity scene. Santa also will be available for visits Fridays and Saturdays.
