Community band needs musicians

FOSTORIA – The Fostoria Community Band invites local musicians to join this volunteer organization.

The band’s first rehearsal of the 2013-14 season is planned for 7-9 p.m. Sept. 26 with its new director, Justin Brinkman.

The rehearsals are conducted in the Fostoria Intermediate Elementary School band room most Thursday evenings through June. The band is made up of about 45 members ranging from high school students to senior citizens whose skill levels range from moderate to advanced.

Cast forming for Christmas play

UPPER SANDUSKY – The Star Players has set auditions for its upcoming production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at Star Theatre, 121 W. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky.

Twenty-five children ages 4-14 will be selected for various roles, along with several adults. All children must have an adult with them to audition. Children aged 4-6 may only audition if they have an adult also willing to accept a role in the show if cast.

Performance dates are Nov. 22-24. There will be two evening productions and two matinees. Lori Lavery, who directs the annual Star Kids program, is to direct this production.
