Bloomville man dies in accident
A Bloomville man died in a three-vehicle accident on SR 231, near CR 90, on Friday.
Charles Dyer, 48, was thrown from the 2007 Suzuki motorcycle he was driving and pronounced dead at the scene.
Trooper Austin Young of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said James Wolf, 62, of Upper Sandusky, was driving a 2013 F-150 truck pulling a trailer south on SR 231. Delbert Chester, 61, of Sycamore, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Trailblazer and was behind the truck, he said.
The Trailblazer went to make an illegal pass in a hazardous zone with a double yellow line around the truck and trailer, Young said.
It struck the motorcycle that was north on SR 231 head-on.
According to State Highway Patrol, the Trailblazer collided with the trailer, went into the ditch, struck a guardrail and overturned onto its top, and the trailer overturned onto its right side.
Chester was taken to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and then was taken by Life Flight to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center, he said.
He was released from the hospital, according to a release from State Highway Patrol.
Wolf and his passenger – his wife, Donna Wolf, 62, of Upper Sandusky – were not hurt, Young said.
Chester and the Wolfs were wearing seatbelts, and Dyer was wearing a helmet, according to State Highway Patrol.
Charges and citations were pending.
Personnel from Tiffin Fire Rescue Division, Sycamore Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Seneca County Coroner’s Office, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, State Highway Patrol, Ohio Department of Transportation and John’s Welding and Towing assisted.
Also Friday, an accident at SR 12 and CR 592 was reported about 7 p.m.
Five people were taken to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital in one ambulance , according to Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
Personnel from Bascom EMS, Fostoria Fire Division, Kansas Volunteer Fire Department and the Echo unit responded.
