Columbian gets 7 district qualifiers
OAK HARBOR — Columbian will have five boys events and two girls events at districts after the sectional meet at Oak Harbor Saturday.
For the girls, the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay both advanced. The 200 medley team of Sierra Steinmetz, Sydney Fortney, Kaitlyn Bates and Lillyan Jones placed 24th in a time of 2:10.27. The same team swam the 400 free, placing 20th in a time of 4:14.43.
For the boys, the 400 free relay squad of Josh Fanning, Myrick Hill, Luis Martinez and Cole Eisenhower placed 21st in 3:49.31.
Eisenhower added a 16th (23.26) in the 50 free and a 19th (51.40) in the 100 free. Josh Fanning will also be swimming in two events as he qualified for districts in the 100 fly (19th, 51.40) and 200 free (23rd, 1:57.71).
Ulmer breaks a record, ‘Berg edges Muskies in OT
NEW CONCORD — Three-win Muskingum led Heidelberg 38-24 at halftime, but Heidelberg responded with a 41-27 second half to send the game into overtime as they won 78-74.
Brittanie Ulmer scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers. Her second trey broke the Heidelberg record for 3s in a career with 163.
Maddy Crawford added 15 points and 17 rebounds for the Student Princes (8-13, 4-10 Ohio Athletic Conference), while Brooke Beamer had 14 points, six steals and five assists and Old Fort graduate Alli Adelsperger finished with 12 points.
Four score in double
figures in HU win
ZANESVILLE — Dylan Woods, Tamal Watkins, Emmanuel Perdue and Martone Cole all scored in double figures for Heidelberg in a 78-69 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Muskingum Saturday.
Woods and Watkins both scored 15 points, while Perdue and Cole each added 14.
HU (10-11, 8-6 OAC) led 34-26 at the half and held off Muskingum in the second to get the win.
Marcus Dempsey led everyone with 30 points for the Muskies. Alex Masinelli added 20 points.
Richards’ 19 points fuels Dragons
Tiffin led Lake Erie the whole game Saturday and Savanah Richards poured in a game-high 19 points in a 76-69 GMAC win for the Dragons.
Jada Tate added 12 points and 11 rebounds for TU (10-14, 5-9 GMAC), while Aarion Nichols had 14 points and Jasmine Watts finished with 10 points.
TU led 18-15 after the first stop and built a 36-31 lead at the half.
Ashley West and Josie Chaddock each scored 18 points for the Storm (8-15, 5-8).
Lake Erie crushes Tiffin
Lake Erie had seven players score in double figures in a 97-63 rout of Tiffin in GMAC play.
The Storm shot 53.7% in the game, which included 59.4% in the second half. They built a 48-35 lead the half.
Gabe Kynard led Lake Erie with 16 points, while PJ Jones added 15, Jacob Plantz had 13, Kaleb Vaughn scored 12 and Kevin Peterson, Harrison Riggs and Ennis Thomas all had 10.
Brevin Brimble led TU with 16 points, while Jairus Stevens contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds and Wesley Jordan ended with 10 points and seven boards.
