Chieftains top Blue Jackets, win sixth in a row
NEW RIEGEL — Hopewell-Loudon slowly pulled away all game long Tuesday to beat New Riegel 54-45 in Sandusky Bay Conference River Division play.
The Chieftains, who won their sixth in a row, led just 24-22 at halftime before outscoring New Riegel 30-23 in the second half.
Travis Milligan sparked H-L (15-4, 11-3 SBC) with 18 points and five rebounds, Jordyn Jury tallied 14 points, five boards and five steals and Kyle Rumschlag netted 12 points.
Nick Reinhart gave the Blue Jackets (6-13, 5-9) 15 points and eight rebounds. Chris Acree tossed in another 11 points and Jacob Theis scored eight.
Blue Streaks too powerful for Clyde
CLYDE — Clyde had a balanced attack, but Sandusky had more.
Dylon Jones tossed in 24 points and three teammates combined for 32 more Tuesday in a 69-44 Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division win against Clyde.
William Simpson backed Jones with 14 points for the Blue Streaks (18-1, 10-1 SBC), Tahj Staveskie had 10 and Xavier Parker tallied eight.
Johnny Marshall’s 10 points topped the Fliers (9-9, 5-4), and Kaiden Olson, Carson Rieman and Caden Berger each chipped in nine.
Senecas gang up on Raiders
KANSAS — Three Calvert players teamed up for 46 points Tuesday in a 64-43 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win against Lakota.
Garrett Spaun sparked the Senecas with 20 points, Jack Shultz tallied 14 points and three assists and Nick Seifert registered 12 points and nine rebounds.
Mitch Nielsen also dished three assists for Calvert (15-5, 10-5 SBC), who led 38-14 at halftime.
Braden Schaser scored 13 points for the Raiders (1-18, 1-12).
Bucks trounce Senecas
NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central rolled early and two Bucks ended with double-doubles Tuesday in a 62-36 win against Calvert.
The Bucks (16-5) jumped out 20-8 by the end of the first quarter and entered halftime up 41-24.
Claudia Pifher led the charge with 15 points, 12 rebounds and three assists and Lexi Evak added 11 points and 13 boards.
Taylor Ratliff also scored 15 points and dished four assists for Buckeye Central and Kendra Ackerman tossed in 10 points.
Frannie Webb’s 15 points keyed the Senecas (4-16) and A.J. Hemminger had seven.
Carey runs away from Redskins
CAREY — Carey outscored Arcadia in three of four quarters Tuesday, but it was its defense that shined in a 45-26 non-league win.
Carey (14-6) led 14-9 after one quarter and upped its advantage to 27-15 at the half. A 15-5 fourth period sealed it.
Avarie Stewart led the Blue Devils with 10 points, while Ady Stewart chipped in nine points, Sadie Arend tallied eight points and five rebounds and Ellison Roark had four assists and four steals.
Lyndee Ward led the Redskins with 10 points.
