Trojans race past Bucks
GREENWICH — South Central dominated Saturday, rolling past Buckeye Central 62-28.
Simon Blair fueled the Trojans (2-0) with 24 points and three steals.
Isaac Blair chipped in eight points, David Lamoreaux dished three assists and Sam Seidel snared five steals.
Aiden McDougal scored five points for the Bucks (0-2), and Jake Heefner, Brady Kerschner, Nick Ramey and Tyler Rose each netted four.
Tigers overpower South Central
ATTICA — Jessica Bowerman tallied a double-double, Makenna Depinet scored in double figures and three teammates each netted at least eight points Saturday as Seneca East steamrolled South Central 66-36.
Bowerman topped everyone with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Depinet chipped in 10 points for the Tigers (1-1), Bailey Hamilton scored nine and Kiersten Cook and Alexis Hicks both netted eight.
Williamses help TU knock off Wheeling
OWENSBORO, Ky. — Trent Williams hit a go-ahead 3 with seven seconds left and Joshua Williams added two foul shots after that Saturday to push Tiffin’s men past previously unbeaten Wheeling 77-74 at the KWC Thanksgiving Classic.
The heroics came moments after Tiffin nearly gave the game away.
The Dragons (5-3) led 72-68 with 2:13, but Wheeling scored six unanswered points to go up 74-72 with less than 30 seconds remaining.
Following a timeout on the ensuing possession, Tiffin’s Thomas Hickman inbounded to Trent Williams in the corner.
Williams faked a couple times before hitting a trey with a hand in his face for a 75-74 edge.
A turnover and foul then sent Joshua Williams to the line, where he made both tries. He then snared a turnover to seal the game.
Wesley Jordan paced TU with 19 points and nine rebounds, and Trent Williams had 17 points and four assists.
Joshua Williams ended with nine points and Jairus Stevens and Jamaal Clifton each added eight. Clifton also tallied three steals and three assists.
The Cardinals (5-1) got 25 points from Jay Gentry, 23 from Jordan Reid and 11 from Jarett Haines. Haines also dished five assists and John Korte grabbed seven rebounds.
Bench play powers TU women
Tiffin’s bench countered a solid Slippery Rock starting five Saturday, propelling the Dragons to an 83-73 women’s win.
Four of Slippery Rock’s starters scored in double figures, led by Brooke Hinderliter’s 18 points.
Madison Johnson and Daeja Quick each netted 14 points and LeeAnn Gibson tossed in 11 to help The Rock’s starters outscore their Tiffin counterparts 61-44.
But Tiffin’s bench came through. Savannah Richards scored 13 points, Danelle Bradley netted 10, Jada Tate tossed in nine and Kirsten Williams tallied seven, letting TU’s bench outscored Slippery Rock’s bench by a 39-12 margin.
Tiffin’s Aarion Nichols led all players with 21 points, Brooke Wesner chipped in 10 and Jasmine Watts scored eight.
Watts and Tate also each grabbed seven rebounds for the Dragons (4-5), Richards dished five assists and snared three steals and Jensen Hiegel handed out four assists.
Anyah Curd gave Slippery Rock nine points, Gibson grabbed seven rebounds, Quick had five assists and Hinderliter added four assists.
