TC trio of Devore, Frankhauser and Koerper gain D-III All-Ohio honors

They weathered the rough years, helped rebuild the program and were individually rewarded Tuesday.

Columbian seniors Chase Frankhauser and Nick Koerper were named second-team players on offense and classmate Drake Devore made it as a special team defensive pick when the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association released the Division III All-Ohio football list.

Frankhauser earned his second-team award as a quarterback. He missed two games due to injury, yet still threw for 1,813 yards and 22 touchdowns during the regular season.

Koerper was honored as a receiver. He filled in at quarterback when Frankhauser was hurt (203 yards passing, 4 TDs), then caught 47 passes for 789 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Devore anchored the defensive line for the Tornadoes, tallying 49 tackles and seven sacks.

They were three key players who helped TC share the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division title this year with Norwalk en route to a playoff spot and a 9-2 season.

The trio also helped TC go 8-3 and reach the playoffs last year.

Those two seasons came after Columbian went 2-8 in 2016 and 0-10 in 2017.
