Dragons rally for OT win
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Savannah Richards scored six of her 11 points in overtime and Tiffin took advantage of Trevecca Nazarene’s cold shooting late Thursday to claim an 84-77 win.
Richards came off the bench to spark the Dragons (4-5), who trailed 39-32 at halftime and 65-58 midway through the fourth quarter before rallying.
Tiffin’s Aarion Nichols knotted the game at 71 on two foul shots with 30 seconds left in regulation and the Dragons survived three missed layups by Trevecca after that to go to overtime.
It stayed close for the 4 1/2 minutes of overtime, but Brooke Wesner’s 3-pointer with 33 seconds put Tiffin up 80-76 and the Trojans (3-5) never got any closer.
Shooting woes hampered Trevecca. The Trojans went just 2 of 8 in overtime, missing all three 3-point tries, and ended 8 of 18 at the foul line for the game.
Tiffin, meanwhile, thrived at the line, converting 28 of 36 tries.
Wesner led the victors with 29 points, Nichols tallied 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds — Tiffin dominated the boards by a 52-36 margin — and Jada Tate added nine rebounds.
Jensen Hiegel chipped in eight points and Jasmine Watts snared seven rebounds.
Olivia Pepperman’s 19 points, nine assists, six steals and five rebounds sparked Trevecca.
Katilynn Wilks added 15 points, Annaliese Burnett scored 14 and Samantha Whiteman had 12.
