Crawford sparks Carey

CAREY — Cade Crawford caught a touchdown pass and scored on a punt return, all within a 2 1/2-minute span in the second quarter, to key Carey’s 28-20 Northern 10 Athletic Conference win Friday against Colonel Crawford.

The Blue Devils (5-5, 5-2 N10) led 8-0 after Reece Billock’s 5-yard run and his conversion run in the first quarter.

Then Crawford shined.

He hauled in a 45-yard strike from Ethan Beringer just 52 seconds into the second quarter, then returned a punt 60 yards for a score at the 8:48 mark to help push the lead to 22-0.

Landen Kemerley added a 3-yard TD plunge with 2:03 left in the half for Carey before Colonel Crawford’s Ethan Suter plowed in from 4 yards out with 36 seconds to go in the period.

Colonel Crawford’s Brock Ritzhaupt figured in the only scores in the second half, firing a 37-yard pass to Dylan Cook and racing in from 15 yards out.

Beringer threw for 152 yards for Carey, with Crawford catching three passes for 61 yards.

Ritzhaupt threw for 130 yards for the Eagles (4-6, 2-5). Jordan Fenner caught seven passes for 71 yards and Tristan Cross ran for 98 yards.

H-L can’t stop Gibsonburg

The Chieftains took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter on Bour’s 12-yard toss to Jordyn Jury and his conversion pass to Daniel Lommerse.
