Watson, Dragons stay hot
OWENSBORO, Ky. — Nick Watson tossed four touchdowns and Tiffin continued it’s stellar play this season with a 59-6 rout of Kentucky Wesleyan in G-MAC play Saturday.
The Dragons (5-1, 3-0 G-MAC) led 21-0 after the first stop and led 35-0 at the half.
Watson threw two of his four TD passes in the opening quarter — one to Devin Butler (28 yards) and Stanley Jackson (15 yards). JaQuan Hardy ran in a 6-yard score to end the first period.
Kyle Brunson ran in a 5-yard TD and then Watson connected with Spencer Moyer on a 2-yard TD to end the first half.
The Dragons held onto the momentum right out of the half as Kevin Hyde returned the kickoff 95 yards for a score. Watson then threw his fourth Td pass of the game to Devon Lynch from six yards out.
Overall, Watson was 16 of 25 passing for 218 yards. Brunson and Hardy each ran for 92 yards and Jackson led the receiving corp. with five catches for 83 yards.
TU led the first down margin 28-10 and outgained Wesleyan (0-6, 0-3) 554-121 in total yards.
HU scores 27 last points to beat Marietta
MARIETTA — In a back-and-forth affair, Heidelberg scored the last 27 points of the game to get a 58-32 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Marietta.
Heidelberg (4-1, 3-1 OAC) led 28-6 at one point in the opening half after a 55-yard TD run by Tayy Yearby.
Marietta (3-3, 2-2) fought back and took a 32-31 lead in the third quarter, but Heidelberg responded in a bug way with the 27-0 scoring spurt to finish the game.
‘Berg tallied 601 yards of offense, including outrushing the Pioneers 325-14.
Quarterback Jimmy Gephart threw for 276 yards and five touchdowns, while Dimitri Penick and Keivon Belcher both caught two passes for scores.
Yearby had 165 yards rushing as Jace Grossman added 131 yards — all in the fourth quarter.
