Clyde’s team moves on

ARLINGTON — Clyde got just one score in the 100s on its way to a third-place finish as a team at the Division I sectional tournament at Sycamore Springs Wednesday.

The top 3 teams and top 3 individuals not on those teams advanced to the district.

Columbian finished fifth as a team, shooting a 399. Meredith Obringer came close to being the third individual to qualify, but came up short after the second playoff hole with Ontario’s Brooklyn Adkins. They both shot an 87, but Adkins won the playoff.

Still, it was the best round of Obringer’s career.

Clyde shot a 391, which beat out Shawnee by two strokes for the last team spot.

Brooke Newsome led the Fliers with a 90, while Margaret Hilliker added a 95, Zoey Fairbanks shot a 99 and Kennedy Brown ended the scoring with a 107. Grace Pocock shot a 108.

Ali Woessner fired a 93 for the Tornadoes. They also got a 104 from Audrey Buskirk and 115s from Norah Smith and Bailey Hull.

Ashland (320) and Lexington (363) were the two other teams to advance.
