Reinhart, Carey claim girls wins
CAREY — Sarah Reinhart took top individual honors and two teammates turned in top-10 times to help Carey win a girls meet Thursday.
Reinhart won in 20:16 to lead the Blue Devils to 23 points. Elmwood took second over Calvert on a tiebreaker after both scored 53 points. Riverdale, Van Buren and North Baltimore did not field full teams.
Juliana Boes ran third (21:30) for Carey, Nellie Bianchi took seventh (22:41), Addystin Lykins claimed 11th (23:40) and Summer Bouillon finished 14th (23:50).
Abby Allison (15th, 24:04) and Liberty Heinze (22nd, 25:46) completed Carey’s varsity.
Erika Gonzalez captured eighth (23:05) for Calvert, Leah Smith ran 12th (23:48), Kassidy Reynolds took 18th (24:42), Megan McClellan came in 20th (25:29) and Ashley Felter finished 27th (26:29).
Van Buren held off Calvert 46-50 in the boys meet, with Carey taking third (96) out of seven teams.
Garrett Spaun’s third (18:25) keyed Calvert, Chris Laney came in fifth (18:37), Kaylor Reynolds ran ninth (19:13), Nick Palm took 10th (19:15) and Ethan Sauber ended 23rd (21:06).
Keegan Meyer (38th, 22:15) and Aaron Riehm (58th, 25:45) also ran for the Senecas.
Carey got a 14th from Tanner Stoll (19:36). Patrick Rockow (20:02) and Isaiah Hoepf (20:04) ran 18th and 19th, Bryce Young ended 21st (20:19) and Ethan Burton took 24th (21:07).
Mason Bouillon (28th, 21:38) and Daniel Cole (33rd, 21:47) also ran for the Blue Devils.
Black Knights jump on Rams
VAN BUREN — Jonah Frederick and Nick McCracken each had a hat trick Thursday as Van Buren beat Upper Sandusky 9-1.
Frederick scored all three of his goals in the first half to help the Black Knights (8-0-1) build a 6-0 lead by the break.
McCracken added an assist for Van Buren, with Jordan Frederick, Hunter Stone and Aiden Mowery also each scoring. Jordan Frederick also had an assist.
The Rams (1-8-1) avoided the shutout on Jaidyn Thiel’s goal with 10:58 to play.
Anson Hill had three saves for Upper Sandusky, and Van Buren’s Gregory Jackson stopped four shots.
