Ray, Redmen light up Preppers
BELLEVUE — Keegan Ray ran for three scores and threw for three more Friday as Bellevue blew past Hunting Valley University School 49-14.
Ray had TD runs of 4, 8 and 2 yards en route to 97 rushing yards, and had scoring tosses of 19, 17 and 63 yards to Caleb Marshall.
Marshall finished with four catches for 117 yards, helping Ray go 8 for 11 passing for 170 yards.
Jack Howey added a 4-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for the Redmen (2-0).
The Preppers (1-1) got a 40-yard TD toss from Nic Pujolas to Parker Crowley, and a Ricky Radtke 9-yard scoring run.
Fliers fly past Eagles
CLYDE — Ryan Lozier threw three touchdown passes and the defense had a bend-but-don’t-break effort late in the fourth quarter Friday to help Clyde double up Ashland 28-14.
Lozier had a solid night throwing, going 8 for 15 for 161 yards and TD tosses of 73 yards to Adam Koviak, 32 yards to Carson Rieman and 18 yards to Nick Webb.
That last pass came on the final play of the third quarter, putting the Fliers (1-1) up 28-7.
Ashland looked to rally, with Mitch Heilman finding Parker Henkel for a 28-yard scoring toss less than two minutes into the fourth quarter. Heilman’s ensuing conversion pass to Cade McQuate made it a 28-14 game with 10:19 to go.
The Eagles (0-2) then forced a three-and-out, but Lozier’s 51-yard punt pinned them at their own 2 with 7:57 to go.
Ashland countered with a march to the Clyde 9, but turned the ball over on downs with 3:33 left and Clyde ran out the clock from there.
Clyde’s other touchdown came on Webb’s 14-yard run early in the second period for a 21-0 lead.
Gunner Golden led Clyde’s rushing attack with 88 yards on 19 carries, and Webb ran 11 times for 73 yards. Rieman ended with three catches for 59 yards.
Heilman went 23 for 42 passing for 239 yards and two touchdowns. His other TD toss covered 9 yards to Eli White.
Mazon Kanz caught five passes for 66 yards and ran eight times for 76 yards.
Royals pull away in fourth quarter
KANSAS — Sanford Fraley had two scoring runs in the fourth quarter Friday to push Elmwood past Lakota 21-7.
The Royals (2-0) led 8-7 after Konner Logston’s 15-yard TD toss to Mason Lentz and Fraley’s conversion run with 5:07 to go in the first half.
It stayed that way until the fourth period.
Fraley capped a drive with an 8-yard run just 53 seconds into the final quarter, then added a 7-yard scoring run with 1:42 to play on his way to 135 yards on the ground.
Logston added a 9-for-24 night passing for 127 yards.
The Raiders (0-2) had an early 7-0 lead after Trevor Franks sprinted in from 7 yards out at the 5:40 mark of the first period, but never found the end zone again.
Franks ended with 129 yards rushing.
Dalton thumps Bucks
DALTON — Adam Jarrett and Adam Knetzer each ran for more than 100 yards and combined for three rushing touchdowns Friday for Dalton in a 41-7 rout of Buckeye Central.
Jarrett tallied TD runs of 3 and 1 yards and rambled for 139 yards while Knetzer scored on a 51-yard sprint and ended with 106 yards.
Adam Bidlak added a 2-yard scoring run and TD passes of 16 yards to Jaiden Malone and 20 yards to Tyler Baer. Bidlak ended 10 of 16 passing for 139 yards, and Malone caught five passes for 73 yards.
The Bucks avoided the shutout when Brady Kerschner found Davey Williams for a 14-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter.
