Rams’ Montgomery, Tigers’ Powers claim top N10 golf awards
In what isn’t really a surprise to those interested in golf around this area, Upper Sandusky’s Brett Montgomery was named player of the year in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference for the fourth straight season. Also, Seneca East’s coach Brad Powers was named coach of the year after his Tigers went unbeaten in the league and won the league outright with a tournament title over the Rams on Tuesday.
Montgomery, an Akron University commit, averaged a 35.90 nine-hole score this season for the Rams. He and teammate Owen Knapp (40.50) were listed on the first team.
Also on the first team was Seneca East’s Jake Forehand (37.50), Turner Bridgford (38.50), Andy Bauman (39.40) and Carey’s Ethan Tanner (39.50).
Seneca East’s Andrew Kalb was named to the second team (42.30), while Upper Sandusky’s Evan Young (43.22) and Carey’s McKain Miller (44.40) were also on the list.
Honorable mentions included Buckeye Central’s Alex Kanney (45.90), Tyler Rose (46.40), Logan Niese (46.50), Jarod Mason (46.50), Carey’s Carter Frederick (46.10), Kole Phillips (46.30), Brayden Miller (46.40) and Upper Sandusky’s Ben Latham (46.50).
