Fostoria wins battle of the Redmen

FOSTORIA — One match went to the third set, but Fostoria held off Bucyrus in a 4-1 win.

Bucyrus’ lone win was at first singles as Caleigh Rister beat Raelyn Hoffman 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 2, Fostoria’s Abrianna Swartz topped Sarah Scott 6-1, 3-6, 10-7, while Alyssa Durst defeated Calli Marill 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3.

The two doubles teams took care of business as well.

At No. 1, the duo of Imani Velazquez and Mya Weimerskirch beat Katie Kuhn and Claire Schifer 6-1, 6-4 and Shay Olin and Jenny Chasco upended Taylor Warner and Kaitlyn Vaughn 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.

Fostoria improved to 7-6 overall.

Stephey locks up TC win

Anna Stephey claimed a three-set win at No. 3 singles Tuesday to secure a 3-2 Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division victory for Columbian against Sandusky.

Stephey upended Abbie Wade 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 to give the Tornadoes the match win.

Columbian also swept the doubles matches.

Erin Musil and Allyson Riley took the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, 6-1, and Linzi Boos and Jaidyn Borer defeated Meadow Gilbert and Briana Haar 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.

Marissa Esposito gave the Truckers a 6-0, 6-2 No. 1 singles win against Sammy Kimmet, while Alana Armstrong beat Casey Knutson 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2.
