Upper Sandusky rallies to drop Clyde in opener

CLYDE — Jaidyn Thiel knotted the game with a goal 29 seconds before halftime, Luke Amert put Upper Sandusky ahead in the second half and the Rams opened the season Saturday by beating Clyde 2-1.
Braden Riehl put the host Fliers up 1-0 at the 20:25 mark, heading in a pass from Victor Guzman.
It stayed that way until Thiel found the net for the Rams off a pass from Austin Andrews.
Amert’s go-ahead score came off a pass from Ross Swinehart with 6:27 to play.
Anson Hill stopped three of the four shots he faced for Upper Sandusky.
USHS 1-2 punch KO’s Clyde
CLYDE — Hannah Windau scored twice and assisted one of Riley Messersmith’s two goals Saturday as Upper Sandusky blanked Clyde 5-0 in the season-opener for both.
The Rams led 3-0 at halftime, thanks to both of Messersmith’s goals and one of Windau’s. Windau had the assist on the first goal and Messersmith scored her second on a penalty kick.
Windau had an unassisted goal in the first half and converted a pass from Mia Norris early in the second half.
Norris turned a pass from Keydi Camacho into a goal later in the second half to complete the scoring.
Cortni Brown turned away the only shot on goal by Clyde, earning her eighth career shutout.
Kendall Bailey had 10 saves for the Fliers.
