Hopewell-Loudon Boys Golf

Coach: Tony Swanagan

2018: Sixth in BVC.

Roster: Seniors Owen Schumm, Luke Graham; Ethan Oswalt. Juniors Layne Myers; Gabe Dohanyos. Sophomores Brendon Blott; Walker Suter. Tyson Swanagan.

Outlook: It’s a new season, a new coach and a new league for Hopewell-Loudon, which will be competing in the Sandusky Bay Conference River Division this season after a number of seasons in the Blanchard Valley Conference.

“As far as expectations, I’d like to be middle of the pack,” said Tony Swanagan, who has coached the program before. “We have to learn to play the course a little better, cut out some big numbers, and I think we have a chance to do that.”

The Chieftains bring back some experienced talent, including three letterwinners. Owen Schumm and Luke Graham each averaged about 48 for nine holes last season, and Layne Myers averaged about a 50.

Schumm and Graham are expected to be Hopewell-Loudon’s top two players, with Myers right behind.

“Lane’s been one of our most consistent (players),” Swanagan said. “We need a fourth scorer.”

That could come from Gabe Dohanyos, who came from Lakota.

“Consistency in the approach and the thought process is the biggest thing,” Swanagan said.
