Groves fifth, TC boys third at Ice Breaker

UPPER SANDUSKY — Caden Groves ran fifth and two teammates turned in top-20 efforts Tuesday to help Columbian upend host Upper Sandusky 95-128 for third at the Upper Sandusky Ice Breaker Invitational.

Mount Gilead beat Columbus Grove 42-72 for the title in the 18-team event. Carey finished 14th (363) and Fostoria ended 18th (461).

Groves crossed the line in 16:42.62 for the Tornadoes, Logan Robinson took 12th (17:53.42) and Jacob Marquis came in 17th (18:16.64).

Patrick Marquis added a 25th (18:44.51) for TC and Carter Fittro ended 36th (19:17.36).

Evan Schleter (39th, 19:26.59) and Jacob Weingart (40th, 19:28.66) rounded out Columbian’s varsity.

Troy Mawer’s 15th (18:10.61) paced the host Rams and Kamren Webb ran 18th (18:18.58).

Emery Pahl backed them with a 23rd (18:36.46), Landon Field came in 30th (19:07.0) and Ashton Vent ended 42nd (19:36.27).

Micah Harris (44th, 19:39.89) and Keith Sammet (64th, 20:25.16) also ran for Upper Sandusky.

Carey got a 56th from Isaiah Hoepf (20:13.06), 74th from Patrick Rockow (20:56.09), 80th from Tanner Stoll (21:01.33), 100th from Bryce Young (21:54.59) and 119th from Ethan Burton (22:25.01).

Mason Bouillon (125th, 22:50.36) and Brady Penwell (135th, 23:14.08) also competed for the Blue Devils.

Justin Jordan took 89th (21:28.77) for Fostoria, Sam Smith ended 107th (22:10.61), Tyler Cobb finished 112th (22:16.4), Dominic Jackson came in 139th (23:21.68) and Quincey McDonald took 140th (23:23.83).

Wyatt Cobb (144th, 23:33.17) and Wyatt Russell (171st, 25:31.38) also ran for FHS.

Reinhart runs

fifth for Carey

UPPER SANDUSKY — Sarah Reinhart’s fifth for Carey topped area girls efforts Tuesday at the Upper Sandusky Ice Breaker Invitational.

Reinhart finished in 20:43.93 to guide the Blue Devils to seventh in the 14-team field with 212 points.

St. Ursula Academy beat Mount Gilead 49-61 for the team crown, with Columbian scoring 100 points for third. Upper Sandusky ended 13th (287).

Caleigh Aigler ran 17th (21:47.48) and Serena Ingalls claimed 19th (21:56.08) to lead Columbian.

Ali Woessner added a 30th (22:12.32) for the Tornadoes, Kelsey Weingart took 32nd (22:17.04) and Mia Ingalls came in 37th (22:32.33).

Annalyce Bowles (45th, 22:59.8) and Sierra Steinmentz (50th, 23:12.98) completed TC’s roster.

Juliana Boes backed Reinhart with a 22nd (21:59.63) for Carey, Nellie Bianchi crossed the line 52nd (23:14.51), Addystin Lykins ended 74th (24:22.05) and Abby Allison took 87th (24:54.14).

Summer Bouillon (90th, 25:01.05) and Liberty Heinze (150th, 30:23.38) also ran for Carey.

Macy Mewhorter’s 39th (22:37.15) topped Upper Sandusky, Gracie Manns came in 46th (23:01.45), Maya Collins took 63rd (24:01.18), Emma Brown finished 84th (24:46.89) and Haley Lee ended 95th (25:21.04).

Hannah Plymale (97th, 25:29.13) and Liz Plymale (103rd, 25:44.87) also ran for the Rams.

Fostoria did not field a full team. Hailie O’Neal claimed 68th (24:08.0) for the Redmen, Macey Sheets took 133rd (28:12.96) and Dezerea Miranda took 158th (31:11.31).

Redmen race to triangular wins

CASTALIA — Bellevue’s boys and girls each cruised to wins Tuesday in season-opening triangulars.

Cayden Adams won the boys individual meet in 10:58 for the Redmen, leading them to a 20-51 victory against Margaretta. Danbury took third with 65 points.

Paul Coffelt (12:06), Ryan Cleveland (12:14) and Caleb Wenzel (12:27) ran third through fifth for Bellevue and Gabe Alda added a seventh (12:37).

Bellevue’s girls beat Margaretta 19-44, thanks to Dominique Weisz’s victory in 13:47.

Danbury finished third with 75 points.

Rylee Bollenbacher backed Weisz by taking third (14:28), Lili Ray ended fourth (14:28), Vanessa Shanaman finished fifth (14:46) and Courtney Fox came in sixth (14:53).
