Fliers blank Tornadoes in SBC opener
CLYDE — Clyde opened its Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division slate by blanking Columbian 5-0.
It was a strong performance for the Fliers, who didn’t lose a set to the Tornadoes in improving to 4-2, 2-0 in the SBC Lake Division.
At first singles, Emma Strudthoff topped Sammy Kimmet 6-0, 6-3, while the Fliers’ Klara Miller got past TC’s Casey Knutson 6-4, 6-2 at second singles. At third singles, Clyde’s Natalie Cziesla upended Anna Stephey 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles play, the Fliers’ duo of Megan Barrett and Alyssa Laurer stopped the Tornadoes’ Erin Musil and Linzi Boes 6-2, 6-3. In the other doubles match, Clyde’s Hali Hagemeyer and Averie Fritz defeated TC’s Jaidyn Borer and Morgan Amory 6-4, 6-1.
The Tornadoes slipped to 3-2.
Truckers sweep Lady Red
NORWALK — Norwalk proved too much for Bellevue Thursday, as the Truckers didn’t drop a set in a 5-0 win over the Lady Red.
Bellevue slipped to 2-2. It was its first Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division match of the season.
At first singles, the Truckers’ Megan Berry beat Rayven Whyde 6-4, 6-1. At second singles, Norwalk’s Emma Frost got past Bellevue’s Summer Strunk 7-5, 6-4, while in the final singles match, Bellevue’s Kaitlyn Cullen fell 6-1, 6-1 to Lauren Metcalf.
In doubles play, the Truckers got a 6-2, 6-4 win from the team of Gabby Horowitz and Alexa Moore. The victory came over the Lady Red duo of Sage Garcia and Leighann Motley. At second doubles, Norwalk’s Mara Berry and Erin Bleile upended Perla Monreal and Ella Little 6-1, 6-0.
