LEXINGTON — Austin Thompson captured a state berth Thursday and two area girls advanced to the finals on the first day of the Division II regional meet.

Thomas cleared 14-8 to end second for Bellevue in the boys pole vault.

The top four in each event qualify for next week’s state meet in Columbus.

Bellevue’s Payton Vogel ended sixth in the girls shot (38-2).

Upper Sandusky’s Chloe Taylor moved on to Saturday’s finals in the 400 (1:01.67), while Bellevue’s Sydney Waskielis did the same in the 300 hurdles (47.79).

Wilkinson fans 16 Senecas

OLD FORT — Kaleb Wilkinson gave up just one hit Thursday against Calvert in a 5-0 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win for Old Fort.

But more impressively the junior hurler struck out 16 and walked only two in a complete-game win.

Nolan Wuescher had the lone single for the Senecas.

Jarett Woodall hit a pair of singles for the Stockaders, while Parker Dubois doubled and drove in a pair of runs, Ryan Miller singled and drove in a run and Eddie Webb doubled.

Josh Gase was the losing pitcher, allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits in five innings. He struck out six and walked two.

The Senecas committed five errors.
