League-leading Truckers edge Fliers to take control of SBC
CLYDE — In a battle between two of the top teams in the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division, it was Norwalk that slipped past Clyde 3-2.
At singles, Norwalk’s Austin Brown took down Alex Calliet 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1, while Andrew Mozina beat Ben Hohenstein 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.
Clyde’s Daniel Stevens topped Carson Colahan 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.
In doubles action, Clyde’s No. 1 duo of Jacob Strudthoff and James Dry downed Andrew Riley and Wyatt Brown 6-2, 7-6(5). Norwalk’s No. 2 doubles team of Ben Traczek and Sam Vanderpool beat Logan Nicely and David Hohenstein 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 for a key win.
The Fliers dropped to 13-2 overall and 7-2 in the league.
Redmen get by Perkins
BELLEVUE — Bellevue almost swept Perkins Monday with a 4-1 Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division victory.
At singles, Bellevue’s Zach Fischer beat KB Ko 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 and Andrew Dye topped Ethan Weatherwax 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3.
Perkins’ No. 2 Ian Hemphill took down Hunter Musselman 6-2, 6-2 for the Pirates lone win.
In doubles play, the No. 1 Bellevue duo of Richie Stombaugh and Gunnar Lilly beat AC Blue and Jaron Ninke 7-6(3), 6-2, while the No. 2 pair of Aaron Baker and Grant Fields dispatched Seth Jolliff and Mike Ingram 6-0, 6-2.
Bellebue improved to 6-7 overall and 5-3 in the SBC Lake.
