Too many Calvert weapons for Lakers

LAKESIDE — Three Calvert players combined for 40 points and another nearly had a double-double Friday as the Senecas beat Danbury 56-40 in Sandusky Bay Conference River Division play.

Nic Somodi netted a game-high 16 points for Calvert (7-4, 6-1 SBC), Josh Recker had 14 points and Hunter Hendrix tallied 10 points and four steals.

Nick Seifert backed them with eight points and 11 rebounds to help the Senecas hold a 33-15 advantage on the boards. Seifert also dished four assists.

Ian Kuzma’s 15 points and seven rebounds led the Lakers (4-8, 2-5). Saylor Evans chipped in 10 points.

Chieftains ride

early burst

RAWSON — Travis Milligan fueled a first-quarter surge Friday as Hopewell-Loudon thumped Blanchard Valley Conference foe Cory-Rawson 67-43.

Milligan scored 12 of his 18 points in the opening period to help stake the Chieftains (8-4, 4-1 BVC) to a 23-10 lead.

Jordyn Jury led H-L with 21 points and Kyle Rumschlag tossed in 10.

Tommy Stauffer scored 12 points for the Hornets (3-8, 0-5) and Carson Houck had eight.

Raiders still winless

KANSAS — Gibsonburg powered past Lakota 69-37 Friday for a Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win.

Elijah Franks scored 12 points for the winless Raiders (0-11, 0-7 SBC) and Josh Matz added six rebounds.
