Fliers power past Warriors

WILLARD — Clyde jumped out to a huge 47-29 halftime lead in route to a 78-64 win over Ontario in the Division II district tournament.

With an early 20-13 lead at the first stop, the Fliers (17-6) went full throttle in the second outscoring the Warriors 27-16. Ontario (14-9) outscored Clyde 35-31 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to come out with the win.

Derick Harrah poured in 21 points to lead the Fliers, while Seth Hohman added 16 while hitting three 3-pointers. Brock Newsome tossed in 14 points, also using three triples.

Ontario was led by Shaquan Coburn’s 18 points, followed by Chance Mott (11) and Griffin Shaver (10).

Seventh-seeded Clyde advances to face No. 3 Lexington at Willard High School at 8 p.m. Friday.
