Raider boys fall to Danbury in season opener
KANSAS — Danbury upended Lakota 48-44 Thursday in the season opener for both teams.
Josh Kagy and Braden Schaser both scored 10 points for the Raiders in the loss.
Tyler Wehrle backed them with nine points and 12 rebounds, Levi Myers dished four assists and grabbed seven boards, and Tyler Gabel had seven rebounds.
Tornadoes power past Shelby in bowling
WILLARD — Three Columbian boys turned in 300 series and the Tornadoes claimed four of the five baker games Thursday in a 2,244-2,070 bowling win against Shelby at Dynasty Lanes.
Shelby’s girls beat Columbian 1,698-1,656.
Dylan McCray led the way for TC’s boys with a 340 series, thanks to games of 197 and 143. Cameron Koerper added a 325 series (171, 154) and Keygan Yonts rolled a 309 (156, 153).
Tommy Peer followed with a 269 (133, 136) and Evan Birch had a 239 (108, 131) to help the Tornadoes open a 1,482-1,408 lead heading into the baker games.
The Tornadoes never trailed by less than that 72-pin differential the rest of the match.
Columbian’s girls also won four of the five baker games in their match, but couldn’t overcome a 107-pin differential after the individual portion of the contest.
Emily Fretz led TC with a 269 series (163, 106), Ariel Hollins had a 227 (100, 127), Ainsley Sherman tallied a 218 (113, 105), Nura Himebaugh had a 176 (78, 98) and Emily Sikora turned in a 169 (91, 78).
Harris, Staib and
Stosio each win twice
NORWALK — Taylor Harris won two individual girls races and Christian Staib and David Stosio doubled up on individual wins in the boys meet in Calvert’s duals Wednesday with Norwalk.
Norwalk won both meets, with the girls winning 121-39 and the boys claiming a 79-54 victory.
Harris got her wins in the 100 butterfly (1:01.92) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.38) for the Senecas.
Alana Kennedy added seconds in the 50 (29.59) and 100 (1:06.96) freestyles, setting personal-best times in both.
The Senecas also took second in the 200 medley relay (2:17.64) and 400 free relay (4:24.83). Erin Wagner, Harris, Meghan Miller and Kennedy swam in both relays.
In the boys meet, Staib took the 200 free (2:08.61) and 100 breast (1:14.2) while Stosio captured the 200 IM (2:43.45) and 100 free (1:02.68).
Sam Krout added a victory in the 500 free (6:38.47) for Calvert.
Calvert’s seconds came from Tristan Fanning in the 100 backstroke (1:32.45), and in the 200 free relay (1:58.13) and 400 free relay (4:19.58). Stosio, Sam Seibert, Fanning and Staib swam in the 200 free relay. Stosio, Fanning, Krout and Staib swam in the 400 free relay.
