Lady Red struggle in loss to Eagles
MONROEVILLE — The first set was a close loss, but Bellevue struggled to get anything going in the final two sets as Monroeville came away with a 25-23, 25-7, 25-13 win Monday.
Molly Bullion recorded a double-double with 10 digs and 12 assists, while Taylor Baxter also had 10 digs. Payton Vogel, Morgan Hicks and Riley Mohr each slammed four kills.
Chieftains start slow, beat Panthers
BASCOM — Hopewell-Loudon got off to a slow start against McComb before taking a four-set win Monday.
The Chieftains dropped the first set 25-23 before dominating the second 25-12, which propelled H-L to two more wins of 25-19 and 25-21.
Jacque Burns led the Chieftains offensively with 14 kills, followed by Jessie Kreais’ 10. Kenadee Siebenaller added nine kills and recorded 10 blocks. Olivia Savidge chipped in three kills and an aces. Hailey Coppus dished out 34 assists in the win. Chelsey Depinet led the defense with 13 digs.
Warriors cruise past Rams
MANSFIELD — Upper Sandusky’s singles fought hard to try to get the team a win, but it was Ontario that came out with a 4-1 Monday.
The lone Upper Sandusky win came with the Rams duo of Jodi Smalley and Mara Smalley at first doubles. The Smalley duo got back onto the winning track with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Val Workman and Anya Daklovic. Ontario’s Jude Salyers and Lizzie Burron handled Samantha Fagan and Lyndsey McQuown 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The Rams third singles player Emma Schoenberger took a 6-4 win in the first set. Schoenberger quickly ran out of gas and allowed Eve Dunn to take wins of 6-1, 6-3. Mady West played in the closest match of the day against Ontario’s Jordan Gardiner. West battled hard at the second singles spot, but fell 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
Shivane Chawla swept Sydney Schryer 6-0, 6-0 at first singles.
