Bucks take out top-seeded St. Paul

WILLARD — There was no fourth in a row.

Jenna Karl registered a double-double and two teammates combined for 23 kills Thursday as Buckeye Central beat top-seeded Norwalk St. Paul 25-17, 25-22, 25-20 for the Division IV district title at Willard High School.

The Flyers had knocked Buckeye Central out of the district three years in a row before the second-seeded Bucks (24-1) broke through to reach the regional for the first time since 2012.

BC moves on to face Ada in a 6 p.m. regional semifinal at Elida Thursday.

Karl led them there by slamming 13 kills and coming up with 10 digs.

Emily Stump backed her with 13 kills and five digs, and Lexi Evak hammered 10 kills.

Addie Ackerman (2 aces) chipped in 36 assists and four digs, Bailey Agin added 13 digs, Claire Songer had nine digs and Spencer Kaple belted three aces.
