Buckeye Central claims piece of N10 championship again
NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central locked up at least a share of its second-straight Northern 10 Athletic Conference title Thursday by beating Carey 25-20, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23 in a battle of state-ranked teams.
The win pushed the sixth-ranked Bucks to 18-1 overall and 13-0 in N10 play, with three conference matches left.
Carey (15-3), ranked 12th, dropped to 10-3 in N10 play, and remained in second place in the conference standings.
Emily Stump, Jenna Karl and Addie Ackerman led the victors with double-doubles. Stump registered 18 kills and 22 digs, Karl claimed 18 digs and 16 kills and Ackerman tallied 47 assists and 10 digs.
Bailey Agin backed them with 15 digs and Lexi Evak slammed seven kills for the Bucks.
Sydney Kin’s 21 kills, 14 digs and six solo blocks keyed the Blue Devils, and Lawyer Stansberry handed out 35 assists.
Mckenzie Row chipped in 15 kills and 12 digs, Hannah Zimmerman tallied 13 kills, 26 digs and four aces, and Dana Worst had 12 digs.
Redmen run down Rossford in four
FOSTORIA — Tyriana Settles puts up ridiculous numbers so often, it’s easy to take her perfomances for granted.
But Thursday night, the Fostoria player put together another remarkable performance, helping the Redmen to a four set win over Rossford.
Settles was one of three Fostoria players to attain a double-double, recording 40 kills, 10 digs, and two blocks as the Redmen knocked off the Bulldogs 25-13, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21.
The Redmen improved to 14-6, 8-4 in the Northern Buckeye Conference.
Also for Fostoria, Dakota Thomas dished 36 assists while registering 17 digs, four aces and two kills. Bailey Robinson had 10 kills and 17 digs.
Mary Harris added five kills and 20 digs, while Meredith Grine put up five kills and five digs. Zoe Rice had 12 digs, while J’Breonn Jones eight digs.
Tornadoes battle for SBC win
Addi Conti approached a triple-double and Emily Davis turned in a double-double Thursday as Columbian battled past Bellevue 21-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-16 in Sandusky Bay Conference play.
Conti provided 15 assists, nine kills, eight digs and three aces for the Tornadoes (10-7, 6-4 SBC), and Davis had 18 kills, 17 digs and four aces.
Niki Cole (2 kills) chipped in 26 assists, Shayna Schwartz came up with 19 digs, Macy Allen had 15 digs and four kills, Carly Rosen hammered six kills, Abby Dryfuse thumped four blocks and Amara Solomon slammed three kills.
Molly Bullion gave the Redmen 28 assists and 11 digs, Taylor Baxter belted 11 kills, Morgan Hicks (2 aces) provided 16 digs and seven kills, Payton Vogel slammed eight kills and five solo blocks, Morgan Dendinger came up with 12 digs, Courtney Haley had 11 digs, Riley Mohr lined three solo blocks and Sydni Rodriguez served two aces.
Bucyrus boots Rams
UPPER SANDUSKY — Bucyrus beat Upper Sandusky 25-20, 25-7, 25-23 Thursday in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play.
Lucy Smith paced the Rams (6-13, 6-7 N10) in the loss with 13 assists, nine digs and three block assists.
Eve Smith added 14 digs and Hannah Gier (2 aces) and Kenedi Hayden both chipped in 10. Jayden Smalley added nine digs, Bre Rosario tallied seven digs, Tori Damron turned in five digs and Anna Johnson had four block assists and three digs.
Blue Jackets blast Chieftains
BASCOM — Brianna Gillig and Lindsay Bouillon each turned in a double-double Thursday to fuel New Riegel’s 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 win against Hopewell-Loudon.
Gillig tallied 19 kills, 19 digs and three aces for the Blue Jackets (17-3) and Bouillon had 25 assists, 12 digs and three kills.
Christen Hohman and Madalyn Reinhart each backed them with 14 digs, Kaitlyn Kirian clubbed 12 kills and Brooklyn Gillig had eight digs.
Hailey Coppus registered 14 assists for the Chieftains, Peyton Hoover had 14 digs, Jacque Burns belted six kills, Kenadee Siebenaller slammed six blocks and Jessie Kreais crushed four kills.
Warriors get win, raise money for cancer fight
SYCAMORE — Mohawk got solid play throughout the lineup and raised money for an area cancer-fighting group Thursday in a 25-21, 25-12, 25-11 Northern 10 Athletic Conference win against Seneca East.
The match doubled as a fundraiser for No One Fights Alone, an organization supporting local residents fighting cancer. The event raised $2,300.
Madi Chester keyed the Warriors (14-4, 10-4 N10) with 11 kills, five digs, three aces and three blocks, and Alex Konkle provided 24 assists, 17 digs and five aces.
Destini Oler added 13 digs and eight kills, Aubrey Margraf had nine digs, Kaylee Ward registered six kills and four digs, Jordyn Lease (2 blocks) came up with six digs, and Emma Myers-Huffman (2 blocks) drilled four kills.
The Tigers (3-15, 3-10) got eight digs and eight assists from Jessie Bowerman (2 aces). Aubrey Saylor slammed four kills and Allison Drown drilled three.
Huron upends Fliers
HURON — Huron knocked back Sandusky Bay Conference foe Clyde 28-26, 25-11, 25-17 Thursday.
Clyde (7-13, 2-8 SBC) got 11 assists and nine digs from Alicia Carter-Koonce, and 12 digs from Sydney Krieger-Helms.
Grace Ball tossed up seven assists for the Fliers, Ruby Schabel slammed six kills and Maddie Greenslade had six kills and five digs.
Depth rules for Calvert
SANDUSKY — Several Senecas contributed Thursday as Calvert beat Sandusky St. Mary 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 in Sandusky Bay Conference play.
Shelby Hemminger registered 21 digs and three aces for Calvert, Kennedy Smith had 18 assists, five digs and three kills and Lexie White turned a double-double of 14 kills and 13 digs.
Sophie Burtis (2 block assists) chipped in 13 assists, Hannah Kelbley came up with 13 digs and Zoe Meyer tallied 11 digs, seven kills and four solo blocks.
Hannah Burns belted another nine kills for the Senecas, Ashlyn Jones had six digs and three aces, Sara Welter added for digs, Lila Gehring drilled three kills and Sydney Johnson provided three digs.
