Doubles play keys Lady Red win over Huron

BELLEVUE — After dropping the first two singles spots to Huron, Bellevue came back to take a 3-2 win Wednesday.

Chole Brubaker fell to Katey Franks 6-3, 6-1 in the number one spot, while Ella Little dropped her match 6-1, 6-0 to Desiree Fisher at No. 2.

Bellevue’s Summer Strunk had to battle to a three-set win at third singles to get the Redmen on the board. She took the first set 6-4 before dropping the second set to Gretchen Blackwell 6-7 (0-7). Strunk rallied back in the third to win 6-3.

With a sweep in doubles action, Bellevue was able to take the win. The first duo of Mackenna Peacock and Skylar Strunk beat Madison Carmel and Hannah Brunow 6-3, 6-1. The No. 2 team of Mady Brugnone and Wyanna Schalk handled Paige Rommell and Angela Rodriguez 6-0, 6-2.

Fliers sweep Redskins

CLYDE — With some easy wins at singles and some tough matches at doubles, Clyde came out with a 5-0 win over Port Clinton Wednesday.

Siera Hisey made easy work of her third singles opponent Hannah Cross with a pair of 6-0 wins. Alayna Barrera handled Lauren Shaw pretty easily in the second spot with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. The No.1 spot went to Heidi Marshall with a 6-1, 6-3 win against Emma Eickert.

Doubles action didn’t have it so easy.

The first team of Lakotah Cagle and Madi Bannister took the win in the first set 6-2 and fell in the second set 5-7. The duo fought back to a 6-3 win in the third. The second duo of Saylor Meyer and Paige Brown won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
