n The Wednesday Senior League at Clinton Heights ended in a tie. The team of Jim Ruess, Fred Smith, Dave Kirby and Dick Hall tied the team of Don Kin, Bill Dunlap, John Barpiel and Al Thomas at 7-under. Prizes went to Bob Shultz (closest in one on No. 8), Gary Kroeger (closest in two on No. 4), Carl Rainey (closest in three on No. 9) and Smith (long putt on No. 1).
n The Amvets League finished the first round of the second half of the season Wednesday. Prizes were awarded to Dick Rochester (long putt on No. 13), Tom Hay (long putt on No. 15) and Bruce Hickle (closest to pin on No. 18).
n The Lakeland Senior League front nine scramble finished in a tie. Dave Salucci, Ron Saklosky and Mike Todd finished at 5-under to tie with Rob Greer, Tom Steinmetz, Dave Nye and Dick Kozlowski. The back nine stableford was won by the team of John Quin, Ivan Crowe and Jack Fenton with a score of two over.
n Bump’s Tuesday Traveling Group held its mid-summer Smith Shamble at Lincoln Hills Tuesday. The team of Tom Company Jr., Paul Porter, Bill Stalsworth, Herb Love and Pat Therriault won after shooting 8-over par. The second place team of Whitey Florence, Fred Fletcher, Dave Fraley and Dave Sendlebach shot 14-over. Florence and Glenn Platt shot a 72 for low net. Next week’s outing is to be at Red Hawk Golf Club near Findlay beginning at 9 a.m. Players are asked to wear collared shirts and to register no later than 8:45 for team drawings.
n The Napoli Pizza League finished its second session on July 12 at Clinton Heights. Tony Laton leads with 36 points followed by Josh Predieri (32), Greg Gase (30) and Barth King (30). Predieri shot a low gross of 38 while winning prizes for closest in two (No. 1) and longest drive (No.4). Other prizes went to Dave Snyder (closest to pin on No. 5), Gase (closest in three on No. 9) and Laton (long putt on No. 8). Jim Hofferbauer shot a 28 for low net.
3-ON-3 TOURNAMENT: The second annual Bascom Shootout 3-on-3 basketball tournament is Sunday at Meadowbrook Park, starting at noon with registration starting at 10 a.m. Cost is $32 per team and there can be up to four players on a team. There will be a T-shirt and Gatorade provided. All proceeds go to a special cause. There are three age groups for the tournament: kindergarten-6th grade, grades 7-12, and 19 years and older.
