TU men’s soccer gets No. 2 seed

A day after a dramatic tournament win, Tiffin University’s men’s soccer team got some good news.

The Dragons, 14-4-2 this season, received a bid in the NCAA Division II regionals, which will take place later this week.

Tiffin enters play as the second seed, and will return to the Saginaw Michigan, site of its thrilling GLIAC Tournament championship win over Saginaw Valley State Sunday. The Dragons will play the winner of the SVSU-Drury game, returning to the field Nov. 13 for the second-round game.

This is the third time in four years the Dragons have made the regionals. Thirty eight teams are selected nationally.

‘Berg volleyball reaches regionals

For the second-straight year, Heidelberg’s volleyball is heading to regionals.On the same day that the Student Princes rated five players on the all-OAC teams. Heidelberg — which reached the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament finals Saturday and lost to Ohio Northern — goes into regionals with a 23-9 record. It will travel to Whitewater, Wisconsin, for a 1:30 Thursday match against Washington (Missouri).

Meanwhile, Mohawk graduate Sarah Parker was named OAC Co-Player of the Year. It’s the second-straight year the senior has earned at least a share of the award. The only Heidelberg player to do that was Jackie Reinhart, a New Riegel graduate and current Buckeye Central coach. In addition, Heidelberg’s Rachel Raimondo was named the league’s libero of the year. Karlie DiRuzza, HU’s setter, was named to the OAC’s second team, while Mariah Sullivan and Janessa Scott each rated honorable mention.
