’Berg advances to OAC Tourney finals

On to the title match. Again.

Heidelberg got help up and down the line and turned back Mount Union in the last two games Thursday to claim a 25-12, 17-25, 25-22, 25-21 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal win.

The victory vaults Heidelberg (23-8) into Saturday’s 2 p.m. finals at Ohio Northern University, the second year in a row for the Student Princes.

Top-seeded ONU has already earned an automatic NCAA bid finishing atop the conference during the regular season and advancing to the tournament final. Heidelberg must win the tournament title for a chance to claim an at-large bid.

“We’ve played a tough schedule throughout October, so I hope that has prepared for a fight,” Heidelberg coach Jason Miller said. “It is always a good match with Northern. We’ll go in and throw our cards on the table and see how it turns out.”
