RESULTS POLICY: Coaches turning in results for any sport are reminded to use full names for all athletes. Handwriting must be legible. Photos of scorebooks must be in focus and well lit. Records should be included. Results for varsity high school and college events must be turned in that day by 9:30 p.m. All other events must be turned in by 8 p.m. Turn in results via email at email@example.com, fax at (419) 447-3274, telephone at (419) 448-3250 or in the drop box by the paper’s front door at 320 Nelson St. Results must be turned in the day of the event. Depending on time constraints, games and events turned in which do not include full names or are turned in late may not have recaps written about them. Results which are unreadable will not be included in the paper.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: Alexis Hicks scored 11 points and three teammates combined for 25 to lead Seneca East past Carey 42-35. Makenna Depinet backed Hicks with nine points for the Tigers (2-1, 1-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference). Jessica Bowerman tallied eight points and six rebounds and Amelia Boes tossed in eight points. The Blue Devils (0-1, 0-1) got 11 points from Avarie Stewart.
BOYS BASKETBALL: Avondre Reed led a quartet of double-digit scorers for Fostoria in a 69-48 win against Northern Buckeye Conference foe Eastwood. Reed netted 22 points for the Redmen (2-0, 1-0 NBC), who trailed 25-16 after the first quarter. Fostoria cut the gap to 38-35 by halftime before outscoring the Eagles 34-10 in the second half. Dom Settles chipped in 16 points for FHS and Bryan Stenson and Jonathon Banks each added 10. Jake Myer scored 23 points for Eastwood (1-1, 0-1) and Christian Peters had 15.
JV BOYS BASKETBALL: Plymouth took down Seneca East 37-26. Alex King led the Tigers with seven points.
n Troy Russell scored 14 points and A.J. Hess had 10 to key Mohawk’s 52-25 win against Riverdale.
n Eastwood beat Fostoria 64-30.
JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: Fremont St. Joe edged New Riegel 25-23. Ella Wank scored 14 points for New Riegel.
