GOLF: The Amvets League Championship was won by the team of Howard Elchert and Jim Banks over the team of Steve Schafer and Dale Wisebaker. In the 18th hole playoff, Elchert and Banks won 22-18.
n The team of Ray Krupp, Herb Love, Jim Banks, Brian Krauss and Larry Wilson shot 4 under to win Thursday’s Retirees League at Seneca Hills. Prize winners were Ken Zeop (long putt No. 7) and Steve Schafer (closest to pin No. 2).
VARSITY GOLF: Fremont St. Joe topped Lakota on a sixth-man tiebreaker Thursday in a Sandusky Bay Conference tri-match at Sycamore Springs. Both St. Joe and Lakota shot a 165, while Danbury had a 196. Lance Emrich led everyone with a 38 for the Streaks. Connor Hill led the Raiders with a 39, while Kyleigh Dull added a 41, Jayden Bonnell shot a 42 and Ethan Longoria shot a 43. Colt Dible (45) and Marshall Minich (58) also competed for Lakota. Tyler Murray led Danbury with a 43.
JV VOLLEYBALL: Elmwood beat Fostoria 25-7, 25-7.
n Bradleigh Meier smashed five kills and nine digs, and Calvert upended St. Mary, 225-15, 25-15. Kelsey Shiley aided the Senecas’ effort with five aces, four kills and 11 assists, and Kate Laney served two aces to go with four assists. Madison Widman had seven digs, while Frannie Webb had three solo blocks.
n Seneca East beat Upper Sandusky, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18. For the Tigers, Brooke Bordner smashed 10 kills, five digs, six aces, while Brandi Gahring recorded five kills and 11 blocks. Lexi Cheek recorded 20 digs.
n Columbian topped Perkins 25-18, 25-17. Jenna Bonnell smacked five kills for TC, while Madison James added four kills and a pair of blocks and Lexi Smith notched four aces and 14 digs.
n Hopewell-Loudon got six aces and three kills from Shea Harper, and Hopewell-Loudon stopped Lakota. 27-25, 25-10. Grave Hoover had three aces and five assists for the Chieftains, while Allie Milligan had four assists.
n Mohawk got 13 assists, six digs and two kills from Kennedy Cleveland, and Mohawk topped Wynford 25-23, 25-17. Emily Klopp added eight kills, Molly Zender had five assists and three digs and Kendyll Gurney had 13 digs. Also for Mohawk, Lauren Moyer had seven digs.
n Old Fort beat Danbury 25-12, 25-12. Breanna Hoerig made five digs for OF, while Jaislynn Woodall added three aces and a pair of kills, Faith Miller had three aces, Madison Nesselhauf served three aces and Jillian Stover finished with a pair of kills.
n Buckeye Central defeated Ridgedale 25-8, 25-11.
JV SOCCER: Liberty-Benton’s boys beat Upper Sandusky 2-0.
JV TENNIS: Columbian’s Jaidyn Borer beat Bellevue’s Cierra Robinson 6-4 and Amber Bischoff 6-4, while TC also got a 7-5 doubles win. Bellevue’s two wins came in doubles play, with Alondra Rita and Allie Henderson beating Kate Albright and Lucia Ridner 6-1, and Dakota Zerman and Cameron Beltran dropping Ella Ries and Lyra Dickman 6-1.
JV GOLF: Norwalk rolled past Columbian 179-231 at Mohawk Country Club. Blaise Wagner shot a 53 for TC, Mason Garcia had a 57, Brock Rudolph shot a 59 and Jimmy Skidmore tallied a 62. Andrew Engle (64) and Isaac Stover (71) also played for Columbian.
FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL: Calvert and Sandusky St. Mary played two games Thursday, with each team winning one. St. Mary won the first, 28-26, and Calvert took the second, 25-11. Lydia Ardner had 17 assists for Calvert, while Ashlynn Deats had eight kills and 10 digs. Madyson Deats had seven digs, while Bradleigh Meier smashed eight kills and Kendal Kryzyzak served five aces.
n Columbian edged Perkins 22-25, 25-17, 25-16. Mariam Al-Zakwani tallied 12 kills, Brooklyn Raneri tacked on seven kills, Gracie Chester slammed six kills, Ryder Smith added eight aces and 13 assists and Emma Simonds dished 11 assists.
n Mohawk’s Molly Zender had nine digs and seven assists, pushing Mohawk to a 25-20, 25-18 win over Wynford. Cassidy Frankart added eight kills.
JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL: Seneca East’s eighth grade beat Upper Sandusky,S 25-17, 25-15. For the Tigers, Hannah Chaffee had five assists, three kills and three aces, while Mya Geary collected four assists, six aces and Leah Drown put up four kills, three aces.
n Seneca East’s seventh grade topped Upper Sandusky 25-19, 25-9. Brie Price served nine aces for the Tigers, while Jaidyn Kagy recorded four assists, four digs and eight aces. Alaina Chapman added three assists, five kills and four aces while Natalie Daniel seven kills, four aces.
n New Riegel’s eighth grade topped Gibsonburg 25-6, 25-14. Olivia Schalk served 10 aces, Lizz Walter added five aces and four assists and Tori Tiell ended with two aces and five digs for the Blue Jackets.
n New Riegel’s seventh grade beat Gibsonburg 25-20, 25-11 as Ashlyn Bouillon had six aces and four digs for NR. It also got four aces and six digs from Kelsey Bodart and an ace and a dig by Carys Allison.
BOWLING: The Allen Eiry Bowling League has started at the K of C for the season. The high women’s game was bowled by Robin Brownell, who had a 153. She also had the the high series for the women with a 304. High game for the men was by Steve Steinmetz Sr. (160). He also had the high series with a 302.
