JV TENNIS: Upper Sandusky’s doubles team of Miriam Gutierrez and Lexi Ricker won 6-4 against Fostoria.
JV GOLF: Clyde beat Columbian 217-225 at Mohawk Country Club on the strength of Ruel Pendelton’s medalist round of 52. Caden Gillmor and Chris Oleksiak each backed him with a 54 and Garrett Wiseman shot a 57. Carsen Drennen (59) and Ian Daniels (64) also played for the Fliers. Columbian got a 55 from Hayden Carter, 56 from Blaise Wagner and twin 57s from Andrew Engle and Mason Garcia. Brock Rudolph (62) and Isaac Stover (68) also played for TC.
n Columbian’s Carly Marie Beck shot a 59 and Lucy Smothers had a 78 in a match against Norwalk.
n Alec King fired a 4-over 39 to key Old Fort’s 199-229 win against Mohawk at Green Hills. Dylan Baker added a 50 for the Stockaders, Casey Clouse shot a 51 and Pierson Steyer had a 59. Simon Garza (60) and Dre Toy (62) also played for Old Fort. Mohawk got a 54 from Brock Brause, 55 from Spencer Stuckey, 58 from Gavan Kelly and 62 from Nate Luhring. Mason Tyree (63) and Aiden Carpenter (68) also played for the Warriors.
JV VOLLEYBALL: Calvert stormed past Fremont St. Joe 25-10, 25-10. Kelsey Shiley had 10 assists and three aces for the Senecas, Kate Lane tossed up seven assists, Samantha Wellman came up with seven digs, Madison Widman added five digs and four aces, Caitlyn Borer belted five kills and three solo blocks and Bradleigh Meier added five digs.
n Seneca East beat Bucyrus 25-12, 25-9. Brooke Bordner belted five kills and six aces for the Tigers, Lexi Cheek had seven digs and Karsyn Bour added nine assists and five aces.
n Danbury beat Lakota 25-7, 25-12.
n Faith Miller smacked seven kills and five aces to key Old Fort’s 25-7, 25-10 win against Sandusky St. Mary. Alyssa Hoerig added five assists and two aces and Breanna Hoerig had five digs and two aces.
n Upper Sandusky beat Ridgedale 25-12, 21-25, 25-13.
n Mohawk topped Carey 25-22, 27-25. Kennedy Cleveland tallied six kills and six digs for the Warriors. They also got three aces and four digs by Bailey Sheets, two aces and seven digs from Lilly Hammer and five aces and 11 digs from Kendyll Gurney.
FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL: Bradleigh Meier and Ashlyn Deats each tallied 10 digs to key Calvert’s 25-21, 25-20 win against Fremont St. Joe. Meier also drilled four aces, three kills and a solo block, and Deats handed out three assists. Lydia Ardner tossed up seven assists, Madyson Deats lined five kills and Kayce Clouse served two aces.
n Seneca East beat Bucyrus 25-23, 25-7, thanks to Grace Manning’s seven kills and Jaelyn Barnwell’s six digs and six aces.
n Sandusky St. Mary beat Old Fort 25-22, 25-21. Molly Kupka handed out seven assists for Old Fort, Cameron Cleveland had five assists and three aces, and Kennedy Guth and Brooke Withrow both added three aces, three kills and three digs.
n Mohawk beat Carey 25-21, 21-25, 25-22. Olivia Wise had nine aces and eight assists for the Warriors and Cassidy Frankart added 11 kills.
JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL: In seventh grade play, St. Joe beat Old Fort, 25-8, 25-6. Cora Baker served two aces for Old Fort, and Mackenzie Fortney had two aces and two kills.
n St. Joe’s eighth grade slipped past Old Fort, 25-18, 20-25, 25-19. Old Fort’s Olivia Abdoo had four aces and three kills. Addy Gillmor had four aces, three kills and five digs, Madalyn Blankenship had five assists and three aces, Marissa Dunn had five kills and two aces and Gillian Eakin had three digs.
n Sandusky St. Mary beat Old Fort 17-25, 28-26, 26-24. Mackenzie Fortney drilled 13 aces and three kills for Old Fort, Cora Baker had eight aces and three assists and Gabby Perez added four aces and two digs.
n Seneca East’s seventh grade beat Bucyrus 25-5, 25-12. Devynn Cheek pounded nine aces for the Tigers and Skylar Neville belted three kills and seven aces.
n Bucyrus beat Seneca East’s eighth grade 29-31, 25-15, 25-16. Abbi Drosky lined 11 kills and three aces for Seneca East, Myah Geary had five assists, three kills and four aces, and Hannah Chaffee tallied four assists, three kills and four aces.
n Fremont St. Joe’s seventh grade beat Calvert 25-11, 22-25, 25-22. Allison Ott (2 digs) led Calvert with seven aces and three assists, Addison King (2 digs) lined six aces and six kills, Alyssa Rishty (2 aces) tallied five digs and three assists, Isabella Lucius (2 kills) and Kennedy Cleland (2 aces, 2 kills) each added three digs, and Shelby Michaels chipped in two digs.
n Calvert’s eighth grade beat Fremont St. Joe 25-18, 25-7 on the strength of Camryn Shook’s 11 kills and Cecelia Palm’s seven assists. Jena Vera (2 kill) belted six aces, Allison Porter (2 aces) had five assists, four kills and three digs, Olivia Miller tossed up three assists, and Caroline Lanicek lined two kills.
HOLE IN ONE: Todd Groves of Tiffin aced the 170-yard No. 4 hole at Green Hills Golf Course with a 5 iron for his eighth career hole in one. Paul VanHorn and Fred Smith witnessed the shot.
GOLF: In the Baumann Old Fort Ex-Hi Golf League, Tom Harple and Brian Ferguson won the last five weeks and play Tim Cessna and Ryan Hulse in the playoff. Brad Fry and Jeff Miller won the wild cards and play Larry Miller and Larry Elcher in the other playoff.
* Steve Schafer and Tim Mannas won the second half of the AMVETS League with 81 ½ points. In second with 79 points were Brian Krauss and Herb Love. Schafer and Mannas will play first-half winners Howard Elchert and Jim Banks for the league championship.
* Ray Krupp, Dave Everhart, Ken Zeop and Jim Heyman tied Rufus Tyree, Steve Schafer, Norm Blymyer and Howard Elchert at 5 under for the win in Thursday’s Retirees League at Seneca Hills. Prize holes went to Dick Rochester (long putt No .17) and Herb Love (closest to pin No. 13).
* The Seneca Hills Retirees League will not play Monday due to Labor Day.
